Happy 7th Birthday

Jackson is now 7!  WOW!  Seems like yesterday he was just a baby!  I think he had a good time!  His birthday fell on Spring Break Week from school, but we had Nana and Papa Akins in town.  We ended up going to the zoo on his birthday, but original plans were to take him to see the new LEGO movie.  We switched the days up due to rainy weather!  We can home, ordered pizza, opened presents from the family and ate brownies!  He got lots of good stuff - lots of money, the new Lego Marvel for PS3, a Star Wars PS3 game, and  a Hot Wheels track set.

Nana and Papa Jackson were planning on driving down, but plans changed and his gift from them came in the next day.....an ipad mini.  Can you say SPOILED!

Then a few days later we had his birthday party - we decided on a Campout Sleepover with a couple close buddies.  It was lots of fun despite spending only 5 minutes in the tent (they heard a noise)!  HA!  And I realized that 7 year old boys love LEGOs, Star Wars, and video games!  And he actually got more LEGO sets from his friends, which they put together in no time!

I found these cute battery operated lanterns for all the kids!

Meyer clan came over for the cookout and cake and then Matthew ended up going over to their house and spent the night.  This is the best we got!
Jackson requested my Grandma's Chocolate Cake for his birthday cake....which I turned into a campfire.  Too bad my icing didn't turn out like hers, but it was still yummy!
 Boys and their LEGOs!

Happy Birthday Buddy!

Gulf Breeze Zoo

We made our way to one of our two local zoos - the bigger of the zoos I am told.  It was very small compared to our Wichita Zoo, but was very quaint and hands on.  I really enjoyed myself and I think the kids did too!

They have a bird house where you can go in and feed the birds- one landed on Papa.  I had some land on my purse too!

There were lots of animals to feed which the kids loved!

These are my FAVORITE by far!  So unique and beautiful!

I don't think I have ever been to a zoo where the bears were not sleeping!  But these bears were hilarious!  They were chasing each other and fighting - so entertaining!

USS Alabama

We ventured out to Alabama today and visited the USS Alabama!  What a fun historic day! The battleship was pretty amazing and I can tell you I would not want to be on there with the other 2,499 people that were on there!  It was big, but not that big!  It did start pouring rain once we were in the aviation museum part, so we missed seeing the submarine....but I'm sure we will be back!

Old made new

This is an old dresser that was in my Gma's house along with a Captain's bed I got a few years ago.  We used it with Jackson in KS for a couple years before we found out we were having a third and bought the boys bunk beds!

I've been saving it- knowing I could give it some tlc and use it for #3!  So it's getting to be that time- Shelby will be 2 soon! Yikes where did the time go?  I just finished the dresser and will start on the bed in a month or so (I'm in no rush for her to get out of a crib!)

My mother in law has so kindly agreed to take her nursery bedding (which she made) and make her a twin quilt to use as her bedding! I'm super excited bc I LOVE the fabric!
