I've been Tagged by Cindy

Cindy tagged me in her Blog, so I am suppose to tell you 10 of my pet peeves. This should be fun!

1. I can't stand people who do not return their shopping carts....especially at WalMart!
2. It drives me crazy for someone to think they know a little something about everything....sorry but you are not that smart folks!
3. It drives me insane to see people smoking in cars with kids - especially if the windows are up...kill yourselves, but your kids should have the right to grow up cancer free!
4. On the topic of kids and cars....it drives me crazy when the parents don't make their children buckle up in the car. Seriously where are your brains??
5. When David loses his items and always blames me for moving them! This is true- don't let him lie to you!
6. It also aggravates me when people do not pick up after their dogs on walks....I seriously don't want to scrap your dog poop off my shoe. And also keep your dogs on a leash or I will let me dog eat your dog! (That was 2 I think)
7. I like for my house to be picked up, but I find it virtually impossible to do with a toddler and a husband.
8. I like to know things ahead of time and not be surprised - which is why I am having a hard time with this whole Assignment Night thing.......
9. It upsets me that people talk about trying to lose weight and do nothing about it. Don't go to McDonalds and Super Size it - that isn't how it works!
10. I really get my biscuits burned when I am in line checking out and the checkout lady is on her cell phone. I think that is against policy in the first place and secondly - give us a little respect. On the same note, I do not use my cell phone while checking out. I do think it is rude.

Okay that was easier than I thought! Now I have to tag 6 people I think so : Liz, Jennifer Jones, Amy, Jenny, Tara C or B, and Stephanie. Lets hear it girls!

Roller Man

Jackson got Roller Skates along with a helmet and knee/elbow pads for Christmas! We decided to get them out today and give them a try since it was a little warmer out. We started with the spiderman pads and the helmet.....not a big fan of those! He doesn't like being confined I guess, but I did get a picture of him. Very cute!

Then we decided to put on the skates and see how he would do. They have 3 levels, so we started off with level 1 where he basically just walks in them and learns to balance. He did really well in the grass, but I had to help him on the driveway since he wanted to be the Evil Knievel of Toddlers and skate with no safety pads/helmet. Check out the picture...we still have on one knee pad and I think he still has on the elbow pads.

I hope he enjoys skating, unlike me! You can't get me on those things - just ask David!

What's that??

We were on our way to bed last night and I saw something weird on Harley...stuck in his hair actually. We looked a little closer and noticed it was a macaroni and cheese noodle from dinner. I am assuming from Jackson's plate when he decided to start throwing food on the floor. If you look closely you can see it by his right ear! Poor Harley!

mmm Good

Jackson is such a picky eater, but this night he decided he like mommy's cooking and it showed! Check out this face! :)

Night Night Bailey!

I caught Jackson covering up Bailey one afternoon. I guess he thought she was either cold or sleepy! Then he laid beside her and watched TV! Such buddies.

Sweet Dreams

Jackson is still in his crib b/c I am just not ready to give up my sleep (that is going to come soon enough with another one on the way). I am not ready for him to realize he can get out of bed to play or come and see what mommy and daddy are doing! Oh it gives me a headache just thinking about it! Not to mention I have several friends making the transition or recently did and I have heard the horror stories! :)
We do indeed have his big boy bed here though. We brought it back form NC and all we have to buy is a mattress! But it will be a little longer before this transition takes place as long as he doesn't decided to start climbing out of his bed!
Last night we went in to cover him up and this is what we found....so sweet! He was snuggling with his bear! And no we did not turn the light on - we just used the flash on our camera! :) Now why would I mess this up with a big boy bed!??!!

First Day of School

Jackson started a Mother's Day Out program at the Child Development Center on base today! I was a little more worried about me than him, but I managed to keep myself very busy today!
I took him in and he stood by me shy for about 1 minute and then it was off to play! I was worried about him all day, but I did not go get him early! The program is from 9-3. What I was most worried about was him eating lunch (he is very picky) and him taking a nap on his little cot (he is still in a crib and I didn't take his lovey).
David and I went to get him and he came up and gave me a hug and then decided he wanted to stay! He threw a fit when we took him out of there. His teacher also said that he was very good. He ate lunch good and wanted more. He had pizza, pears and carrots. Seriously this is the first veggie he has eaten in I don't know when and he wanted more??? He refuses to eat them for me. And he took a nap on his cot. She said he laid there and looked around a little bit and saw all the other kids laying there, so he popped his bottom up in the air and went to sleep! WOW!
So it looks like he will be going back from here on out! For nothing else than to eat veggies! :) I am going to have to find a hobby though b/c I really missed him! :(

My big boy on his first day of school!

Gifts From Great Gpa Akins & Gma Ruth

Jackson is still getting Christmas presents....he got a HUGE box from his Great Grandparents. And what was inside - THE LARGEST BEAR I HAVE EVER SEEN! It is so cute and so soft, but trying to find a spot for it was hard! Jackson loves it though and that is all that matters!

Kissing his bear!

Seriously this thing is bigger than 2 of him!

Reunited Again!

Jackson had his first friend, Gavin, come over and play on Tuesday! Gavin had to move to LA with his mom and dad back about 5 months ago, but you would have thought that when they saw each other- he had never moved! Jackson went right up to Gavin, patting him on the back saying "Hey Hey". It was very cute! They played very well together except the time Gavin took his lovey. Haha - That is what Jackson gets for taking everything from Gavin all the time! :)

It was so good to see Liz too. She was my first real AF friend and I so bad hate that she has moved on. Thank goodness for email, facebook, texting and blogs! We will most likely never be stationed together again until maybe our husbands are flying a desk! :) Liz is pregnant expecting a little girl in a few months! And oh how cute is her baby bump. I only hope I look like that in a few months! Good seeing you guys! Come back anytime!

Here are some pictures of the boys!

We are adding one more!

That is right! David and I found out a few days ago that we are expecting our second bundle of joy! It was confirmed today by the clinic on base! Baby Akins is due sometime around the 12th of September! My first Dr's appointment is not for a few more weeks, but we will keep you updated!

Boys will be Boys

Jackson took a 3 hr nap today and David decided to go and check on him even though we hadn't heard a peep out of him. And it is a good thing he did. All of a sudden I hear "Come here....QUICK"!
So what do I see when I go in?? A little boy in a crib, no pants on, no diaper on, and poop! YES POOP! He had gone poop in his diaper and decided to take it off....YUCK! I get grossed out just thinking about it! So David rushed him to the tub.....scrubbed him down while I clean up the mess. Luckily it was contained and we found it in time before he made too much of a mess. Now I am going to be checking on him constantly instead of relaxing while he is taking such a good nap!
Happy New Year to me! :)

Our Year in Review- 2008

I am amazed at how the years fly by the older you get! When I look back we did so much....so here is the Akins Year in Review!

David:
- started UPT in Feb
- Track selected in August to the T-1
- went on a couple cross countries and having fun with the guys!

Jackson:
- turned 1 in March
- took his first steps on David's birthday
- now runs everywhere he goes
- had his first haircut
- got all of his teeth in besides his 2 year molars

Elizabeth
- traveled home 3 times
- started training and completed my first half marathon
- became a steering team member for MOPS
- took on other regular "jobs" that keep me busy
- went to a Conference in April/May with my friends from college to keep up my Continuing Ed.

Other events in 2008 that changed our lives:
- We lost two of our own here at CAFB in a plane crash. Blair was an amazing man that we went to church with and opened his home up to us regularly! He was a mentor to David in the short time we got to know him. We experienced what a tragedy like that does not only to you but to an entire community.
- My dad surprised us and himself with triple bypass surgery in March. What a horrible feeling to think you may lose your father(for the 2nd time...as if cancer wasn't bad enough). I flew home with Jackson for a couple weeks to help my mom out and in the meantime, my Grandmother went into the hospital also. So we were between 2 floors at the hospital for about a week. My dad pulled through great and is like a new man today, but unfortunately my Grandmother went to heaven about a week after I returned home.
- My parents had to put our family dog of 14 years down. It was sad at Christmas not having her around!

This next year should be an exciting year for us. David will finish Flight School in March and I will finally get to pin those much deserved wings on! We will also find out in February where we will live the next chapter in our life! Stay posted!
