Flowers, Flowers Everywhere

My parents are in the middle of getting all of their summer flowers planted! If you haven't ever lived in the SouthEast...I think we have the prettiest flowers available! Little Bias! Here are just a few of the things they have been doing today....so many things they have have not ever started to bloom yet.

This was earlier today, but it is different now....Mom and I decided to plant the 2 hibiscus plants on either side of the purplish looking bush.

Just in the corner of the yard.

Here are some of the azaleas still in bloom - they did really well this year.

These are actually my mom's neighbor's iris's, but since some have multiplied into our yard....she claims them! :)

Spring has Sprung....

But it feels like summer already in NC! We spent the morning outside with Memaw and Papa (although Jackson calls them both Papa now) working in the yard. I don't believe that Jackson has ever gotten so dirty as he did today! Nothing a bath will take care of my folks always say! But he had the best time helping Papa in his shop, planting flowers with Memaw and I, crawling in the peat moss trashcan, and helping cut the grass. It was truly a little boys dream day! We are all just pooped tonight and thank goodness the little stinker is in bed fast alseep!

The right way to mow!

He pushed his mower right behind Memaw....too cute!

cheese- I tried to get a pic of his dirty face

You can see some of the dirt now!

And there is some nice peat moss on his face, but it was truly all over!

Almost halfway there...

or if in Jackson's case - more than halfway there! Tomorrow I will be 20 weeks and I can say I am starting to feel pregnant. The constant potty breaks, the harder time breathing, feeling this little man start to move and grove....
I finally got approved for an off base OB/GYN and my first appt is on the 5th! I think I will be very satisfied with the care I will be getting now!
Here is a pic - 19 weeks, 6 days and yes I cut off the top of my head! I am not very good at timer pics yet! :)

One year ago today...

we at CAFB lost two of our own in a T-38 crash. One was Instructor Maj Blair Faulker and the other, a student, Matthew Emmons.

I will never forget the turn of events that day- they play in my head at vividly as the events of 9/11. I was out trying to cut grass around lunchtime (never got the darn thing started) and my good friend, Liz, is frantic at my fence....saying "I saw smoke on the runway as I was coming out of the Commissary". We knew something was WRONG- way WRONG. You get no news right away when a tragedy happens, the waiting is the worst. She was very scared for her husband Andrew, but for some reason I had asked him the night before when he flew the next day. (Why would I ask this- now I know it was God helping me to be able to console Liz in her time of need.) I remembered he had an early flight, as well, I knew David did- so I felt confident that our husbands were safe and sound. Of course you try to call them, but everything and everyone is on lock down.

As Liz is feeling a little better, she heads home- a couple streets away- but calls me soon thereafter with the news that it was a confirmed T-38 crash...this is all we know. David was flying the T-6, so I felt better, but Liz's husband was in the T-38 Trainer at the time. I felt like I was back to square one. So I told her I would call a few Instructor wives that I knew, one being who Andrew flew with that day. No one knew anything. I also call a friend, Paige, who's husband is also an Instructor in the T-38 and she is on her way home from work in tears.

I end up going to Paige's house to sit with her and some friends while we wait to hear any word. Liz also comes over b/c her mom is at home with Gavin. This is not something I ever wish on anyone.....I should not at 27 years old have to sit and pray with friends waiting to hear whose husband is hurt or killed. We then hear that it was fatal and one was an Instructor and one a Student. The minutes feel like hours and finally another friend gets word of the names - Maj Faulkner and Lt Emmons. There was no relief in knowing that it was not a husband of the wives I was with. It hit home like it was a brother, a cousin, a best friend....

The community of Columbus AFB was completely silent for days......the hurt was felt throughout and today we honor them. Their service to this country amazing - not many men and women decide to put themselves in the line to keep this country free. My heart and prayers go out to both of their families today. Blair left behind a wife and 2 small children. Rachel is the strongest Christian I know and I am proud to be her friend. Matt left behind a wife and an unborn son at the time. May their day be filled with peace that both men were Christians and today they are in a wonderful place....no more hurt, no more pain. God bless them as today will be a tough one.

Beach Bums

David and I went on a little beach weekend - Jackson free before he had to leave for more training....we stayed at a friends condo in North Myrtle Beach! We had the best time after we decided not to miss Jackson so much! And I am glad we did being he could have cared less when we got back!
The weather was a little chilly out on Friday, but we braved the beach on Saturday being it was warmer. I sat in a chair for several hours reading a book while David was crazy enough to try out the tide! He said it was COLD!
And I decided that I definitely want to live back in the NC area when David is through with this AF thing and I want a place at the beach! FUN! I guess his airplane is going to have to wait!

** And there are a ton of new posts....sorry I got behind! Check them out!

Gotta love this face!

We even met up with Maddie at the park...how fun!

Wedding Ready

We had to take Jackson to get his tux fitted for my brother's wedding in May.....yes they are having a 2 year old be their ring bearer! I have already told them that there is no telling what he may do or day - or if he will even walk down the isle!
So here he is in his little tux - minus the bow tie!

He looks like he is ready to hit the dance floor!

Easter Fun

We celebrated Easter with my family and David's family (his parents just happened to be in town- how fun)! Jackson had a blast once he figured out hunting Eater Eggs and that some of them had candy in them. I will have to say that you shouldn't start out hiding 37 eggs for a kid who has no clue! It did take some time! :)

Found one!

Dropping his eggs in his basket!

Found another one.

Love this picture...can you see the excitement and mouth open - yep he spotted another egg!

And this is him bringing Bailey back over...he thinks he is in charge!

We are having a....

BOY AGAIN!
And boy was I surprised! I really, really thought this was going to be a girl and I was a smidgen disappointed, but I am very happy now (still a little surprised)! And I think the only reason I really wanted a girl is not only b/c I would have one of each, but all of my friends (except for Misty) are having girls and it is their 2nd baby...Misty is on her first! I will have to say that I need nothing b/c I think most of Jackson's clothes are going to work and I have 8rubbermaids full! The only thing I think we will need is a swing (b/c Jackson's was recalled) and a double stroller. Can't beat that with a stick!

As for the appointment - everything went well! Baby is healthy and all measurements taken were right on track! Baby boy is 8 oz right now! I gained 5 of my 6 pounds lost back, so that seemed to be a good sign! Nothing much extra than that!

I am back in NC now....David will leave soon for some more training and I will stay here until baby is born! We went to Pope today to get Insurance Regions changed over and looks like they are not going to approve me to see an off base Doc (I have one more option and I will try that). I was a little aggravated at first, but I think it was b/c I was stepping out of my familiarity.....they deliver babies everyday at Womack Army Medical Center and I am sure they can make me happy too! Not to mention it is just for a few days and I will be back in the comfort of my folks house. So I am going to roll with the flow and take whatever happens with a smile on my face. At least I have a sticker and ID card and whoever drives me there will be passed through the gates quickly!

So here are the pictures of our little guy....no for sure name yet! We are going to have his middle name be Glenn (after David's Dad), but as for first names we are still shooting a few around!

No denying this is a boy!

Here is a little head shot!

Another head and part body shot.

This is my favorite...he has his legs bent up to his head. He is a lot more flexible than me or his dad! :)

Bring on UPT

Jackson is ready for UPT....he has his butter bars on and his plane! Where are the instructors at??

David pulling from his Boy Scout Days!

David wanted me to pack the kitchen up since that was the last of the boxes we needed to put into storage and I was DREADING it! It really didn't take that long and Jackson didn't get in my way really - he was a good boy! This was Saturday and we aren't leaving until Thursday so I decided to keep out a pan and pot with a big spoon and spatula....that will surely get us through! I also kept out a stone b/c David wanted to have pizza one more time. Since all my stuff was packed we had to use pizza dough already made.....I usually make my own and it is delicious! So I had to run to the commissary for a cheese grater, toilet paper, and a few other items....when I returned I realized that I packed more of the stuff we needed! lol I had packed the can opener and so David improvised and opened the can of sauce with - yes - a screwdriver and a hammer! I thought I would die laughing! But it worked!

Next he realized we had no knife, so he proceeded to clean his pocket knife (which is used for all sorts of nasty guy stuff) and cut the cheese to slice it! And then we ran into another issue - the pizza dough was crappy and wouldn't spread out, so we ended up making calzones. They turned out yummy and all was good, but next time I think we will just order pizza!

Then and Now

Traci wanted to see a comparison picture in the bouncy seat and I tried to find one when I was doing the last post, but couldn't seem to get my hands on one. I had packed up all my back up CD's and the desktop has been taken down. But low and behold there was some on the laptop too....not to mention they are all on photobucket I think! :)
So here you go Traci.....
